The NHS Alliance has appointed Matthew Hopkins on an interim basis to be its Acute and Ambulance Network Director.
Matthew will lead the support that The NHS Alliance provides to acute and ambulance trusts in England. He will join the organisation next week.
Matthew is a highly experienced NHS chief executive with a 40-year clinical and leadership career. He has led a number of NHS trusts across England including most recently as chief executive of Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, a role that he retired from last November. Prior to that, Matthew has held senior leadership positions in Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust, Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals Trust, and Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals Trust.
The NHS Alliance is the new independent membership body, formed from the merger of the NHS Confederation and NHS Providers, which was created in April. Its purpose is to represent and support the health system across England, Wales and Northern Ireland in order to help improve the NHS and the health of the people of the UK.
The NHS Alliance will advertise for its permanent Acute and Ambulance Network Director shortly.
