Our forums connect members by role, interest or task-and-finish groups on key issues, creating spaces to shape solutions on the issues that matter most. Participation is exclusive to members. 

The selection listed below are open to all members. We also provide others exclusively to members of our sector networks.

NHS Leaders Forum
Our NHS Leaders Forum brings together leaders from across all parts of the system.
Exploring the key challenges facing NHS leaders and their boards, this forum aims to help you to navigate priorities, stay informed on policy developments and consider how best to support your organisation. 
Each session will provide analysis of the current health landscape, opportunities to hear and gain insights from the government and national body leaders and discover case studies showcasing innovative work from organisations across the sector. 
With meetings also offering space to learn with peers, share experiences and explore leadership development, this forum is open to: 
  • Chairs and chief executives from across NHS trusts, ICBs, community CICs, primary care collaboratives in England.
  • The forum will meet twice yearly with all system leaders invited.
  • There will also be two other yearly meets for sector-specific groups – e.g. NHS trust chairs and chief executives only, chairs and chief executives in Wales and Northern Ireland. 
Neighbourhood Leads Forum

Meeting quarterly, this forum is open to leads who are responsible for making neighbourhood working a reality at place and system, including those from: 

  • Primary care, acute, community, mental health and ICBs. 
Elective and Outpatient Reform Forum

Meeting quarterly, this forum is open to: 

  • NHS trusts, community trusts, primary care and neighbourhood ICB.
  • Anyone involved with outpatient pathway redesign.
Urgent and Emergency Care Forum

Meeting quarterly, this forum is open to anyone involved in the UEC pathway redesign and operational delivery. 

NHS Digital Leadership Forum

Focusing on board and senior-level leadership of digital transformation, this forum supports members navigate emerging digital priorities and explore how they can lead meaningful change.

Chaired by digital leaders from across the NHS, meetings feature peer-led case studies and practical insights from across the health and care sector. Previous topics have included digital inclusion, AI assurance, EPR optimisation and developing the digital workforce.

The forum also offers the opportunity to hear from speakers representing NHS England, the Department of Health and Social Care, and other national bodies.

Meeting quarterly, this forum is open to: 

  • Digital and innovation leaders at board level across trusts and ICBs. 
  • Digital primary care senior leaders.
  • Board-level non-statutory members providing NHS-funded patient care.
NHS Communications Forum

This forum is an opportunity for communications leaders from across the sector to reflect on common challenges, share insight and learning and discuss how leaders can continue to show the importance of communications as a strategic leadership function.

Meeting each quarter online and in-person, these interactive meetings are your opportunity to hear the latest innovative work within the sector, with previous meetings exploring: diversity in NHS communications, updates from senior leaders, including colleagues from NHS England, AI within communications, training and development within the profession, and more.

Designed for anyone with strategic oversight for the communications agenda of their organisation, this forum is open to: 

  • Directors of communications and engagement across trusts, ICBs and other parts of the system. 
  • Other senior communication leads.
NHS Quality and Safety Forum

Meeting across the year, we'll host a series of webinars for board-level leaders on key issues relating to quality and safety.

NHS Work and Health Forum

Meeting on a monthly basis, this forum is open to: 

  • Broad ICB membership, including ICB work and health leads, strategy and workforce leads and chairs. 
  • Non-ICB membership includes NHS trusts, local and strategic authorities, DWP, VCSE and national colleagues. 
Learning Disabilities Forum

Meeting quarterly, this forum is designed for members who provide or commission services for people with a learning disability.

Trust Chairs and Chief Executives Forum

Designed for chairs and chief executives from NHS trusts and foundation trusts, this forum explores the key challenges facing NHS leaders and their boards, supporting you to navigate priorities, stay informed on policy developments and consider how best to support your trust.

Each session provides analysis of the current health landscape, opportunities to hear from and engage with stakeholders from NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care, and discover case studies showcasing innovative work from other trusts.

NHS Chief Operating Officers Forum

Designed for anyone with responsibility for corporate operations of their NHS trust or foundation trust.

In a constantly evolving NHS, this forum offers operational leaders inspiration, practical guidance and peer support to help navigate shared challenges. Providing  space to connect, exchange learning, and engage in informal mentoring, this forum has a focus on key priorities such as productivity, efficiency, and staff and patient engagement. The forum also explores leadership development, including soft skills such as executive communication and team empowerment,  offering fresh perspectives and helping you reflect and reframe your thinking.

Meeting three times a year both in-person and virtually, this forum is open to: 

  • Chief operating officers,
  • directors of operations, and
  • site operational directors.
NHS Chief People Officers Forum

Available for directors of HR, workforce and organisational development working in trusts and foundation trusts.

This forum explores key challenges and sector developments affecting chief people officers and their trust's workforce. It offers space to connect with peers from across the country, reflect on staff wellbeing, navigate workforce pressures in a financially constrained environment, and share innovative approaches from across the sector.

You’ll also hear from national leaders, with previous meetings featuring speakers from the Department of Health and Social Care.

Company Secretaries Forum

Designed for company/trust secretaries and directors of corporate affairs of NHS trusts and foundation trusts, interim, acting, deputy and assistant directors also welcome.

Chaired by NHS governance leads, this forum is for those with executive responsibility for corporate governance. It offers regular updates, peer discussion and the chance to share approaches to evolving governance guidance and any new or revised requirements.

Meeting three times a year, the forum is held both virtually and in-person. Previous agendas have explored topics such as the Insightful Provider Board, boardroom dynamics, governance of partnerships (including groups), and the fit and proper persons test, among others.

Each session includes a policy and political overview to help contextualise your local work, and features expert speakers and examples of effective practice to support you in your role.

NHS Chief Finance Officers and Commercial Leads Forum

Designed for anyone with responsibility for managing the financial accounts or commercial portfolio of their trusts, this forum is open to:

  • Chief finance officers
  • Directors of finance
  • Commercial and business development leads

This forum offers finance and commercial leaders the opportunity to stay up to date on key developments, share priorities and questions, and engage directly with senior leaders from NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care. 

It provides space to step back and reflect on the wider financial landscape, explore current challenges, and connect with peers. Previous agendas have covered topics such as financial sustainability, delivering value and estate management, alongside peer-led sessions focused on sharing best practice.

NHS Non-Executive Directors Forum

Open to non-executive directors (NEDs) from across NHS trusts and ICBs, this forum provides key information, tools to support you in your role, and space to connect and share practice with peers.

Focusing on the issues that matter most to NEDs, recent events have explored risk management in systems, inclusive employment practices, the journey from NHS NED to chair, patient safety and speaking up culture, and the board’s role in addressing health inequalities.

Meeting three times a year, this meeting includes a policy and political update to help you contextualise your work locally, along with expert speakers and examples of effective practice to support your development.

Shared Leadership Forum for Chairs

Meeting quarterly, this forum is open to chairs considering shared leadership arrangements from the following areas:

With community services playing a pivotal role in delivering high quality, integrated care across the health and care system, the network provides policy updates and guidance to help leaders understand how national developments may affect their services and where opportunities are available.
