Digital Boards: Aligning digital strategy with organisational strategy

Overview

Most trusts now recognise that digital is critical to delivering their strategic goals, but few have worked out how to make that a reality. Few know how to move from digital as a separate plan, owned by a separate team, to digital as the golden thread running through everything the organisation does. That shift requires board leadership, not just board awareness.

Join our next Digital Boards programme peer learning event, which will explore what it really takes to embed digital thinking at the heart of organisational strategy and hear directly from a trust that is doing it.

We are delighted to be joined by speakers from University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM). UNHM’s 2025-2035 strategy places Digitally Enabled Care Transformation as one of its four core programmes, woven through its ambitions for people, patients and population, from AI-enabled service redesign to closing the digital skills gap in their workforce. Their chief information officer and non-executive director will share the executive and board perspectives on how digital became a strategic priority, what it took to land it in practice, and key lessons to share.

Aims

This event has been designed to provide board and senior leaders with the tools they need to effectively build and integrate digital strategy into organisational goals:

  • Explore what it means for digital strategy to be genuinely integrated into organisational strategy, not a siloed plan
  • Understand how to make the case for digital at board level and sustain the board buy-in
  • Hear a practical case study of how one trust has aligned its digital roadmap to its ten-year strategy, and what good looks like in practice
  • Share what a realistic outcome looks like in your digital strategy and how you can ensure it aligns with the wider organisation’s outcomes
