As demand for ophthalmology continues to rise, shifting appropriate care out of hospital and into community and neighbourhood settings is essential to improving access, reducing harm and creating a sustainable NHS.
Key takeaways
This session will explore what it really takes to deliver eye care closer to home. Drawing on a year‑long national collaborative, we will share practical learning from multidisciplinary teams who have been working to implement this shift in real systems. Through their experiences, we will examine what needs to evolve, shift and transform across finance, workforce, data, governance and partnerships to make this ambition a reality.
You will hear directly from programme participants about what they have learned and the journey on navigating change. Alongside this, expert insights from expert partners will help unpack what is needed at both local and national level to enable progress at pace and scale.
Delivered in partnership with Primary Eyecare Services, the Q Community and expert ambassadors, this session will provide grounded, practical insight into how the left shift in eye care can move from policy ambition to sustainable delivery.
