Responding to Wes Streeting's resignation, Sir Ciarán Devane, chief executive of The NHS Alliance, said:
"On behalf of our members, our thanks go to Wes Streeting for his time as Secretary of State for Health and Social Care.
"He brought a strong focus to addressing NHS waiting times and improving access to care, while setting out an ambitious reform agenda in the Ten Year Health Plan.
"However, there is lots more to do. The NHS has made significant progress in the last year but we are entering an even tougher period this year. The most important thing the NHS needs now is stability and we look forward to working with Wes Streeting's successor when they are in post to help build on the progress made."
