Headlines and analysis of the ten-year capital plan.

On 8 July 2026, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) published a 10 Year Capital Plan (10YCP) which aims to set out the strategic direction for capital investment over the next decade and enable delivery of the three shifts identified in the 10 Year Health Plan (10YHP).

The plan outlines a long-term programme of investment to modernise NHS buildings, replace antiquated equipment, improve digital infrastructure and expand community-based services. It should be viewed as a bringing together of pre-existing capital commitments into a single, coherent framework.
