Community services: essential for everyone, everywhere
From 19 to 23 October 2026, Celebrating Community Services Week will shine a light on the essential care delivered every day in people’s homes, neighbourhoods and local communities.
Community services support people at every stage of life. They help prevent ill health, enable earlier intervention, provide specialist treatment and rehabilitation, and help people remain independent.
This year the theme is: Community services: essential for everyone, everywhere.
This theme makes visible the breadth and everyday impact of community services - from prevention and early intervention to specialist care delivered in homes and neighbourhoods. It provides a strong umbrella for the week’s stories about care closer to home, people and innovation, evidence and impact, and the future of the sector.
The celebration week is an opportunity to celebrate the contribution of community services teams, and to recognise the people, partnerships and innovations making a difference across the NHS.
Help us tell the story of community services
We want members to take part by sharing a short video or LinkedIn post that shows what community services mean to your organisation, your staff and the people you support. You could highlight a service, team, partnership, innovation or outcome that demonstrates the impact of care delivered closer to home.
Your contribution could answer one of these questions:
- What difference do your community services make to people and communities?
- How are you preventing ill health or supporting earlier intervention?
- Which new partnership or innovation that has had a big impact, would you like to celebrate?
- What should the future of community services look like?
- What challenges have you overcome that you want to share with other community services leaders?
How to take part
- Record a short video or draft a LinkedIn post using one of the prompts above.
- Post it during the week of 19–23 October.
- Use #CelebratingCommunityServices and tag the NHS Alliance so we can see and share your contribution.
- Make sure anyone featured has agreed to take part and add captions to video content wherever possible.
Before submitting content, please confirm that:
- everyone featured has agreed to take part
- no patient-identifiable or confidential information is included
- any local communications approval has been completed
- videos include accurate captions
- images and footage can be shared by the NHS Alliance
- the organisation, service and contributors are clearly identified.
Throughout the week, we will share member stories of community services. Follow the conversation, share your story and help show why community services are essential for everyone, everywhere.
