On 15 April 2026, NHS England published the Neighbourhood Health Centres Guidance, setting out the strategic framework and planning work now required to develop neighbourhood health centre (NHC) schemes to support neighbourhood health.
This briefing summarises the key points from the guidance and our analysis of what it means for integrated care boards (ICBs) and NHS England regions. It should be read alongside our briefing, Neighbourhood Health Framework: what you need to know, which summarises and analyses the guidance published by the DHSC setting out the government’s plan to establish a neighbourhood health service.
If you have any comments, feedback or questions about the framework or our member support offers, please contact Jack Sansum or George Johnston.
This briefing is available exclusively to members of The NHS Alliance. If you are a member, you will have received a copy via email.
