An evening with Victor Adebowale: Championing inclusive leadership

29 October 2026

17:30 - 20:30

In-person

Woburn conference centre, Tavistock Square, London, WC1H 9HQ

  • Race equality

Overview

Join the BME Leadership Network (BLN) for a special evening with Lord Victor Adebowale as he delivers his final address to the network as chair of the NHS Alliance.

Together with network members and allies, we'll reflect on the progress made towards a more inclusive NHS while exploring the challenges that remain in the journey of becoming a truly anti-racist institution.

Chaired by Lord Victor and featuring special guests, the evening will include thought-provoking discussion, shared learning and an opportunity to connect with colleagues committed to driving meaningful change.

Why this matters

Research and engagement have given the BLN a clear understanding of the experiences of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) colleagues in healthcare. While progress has been made, many continue to experience racism, exclusion and inequity within the NHS.

Lord Victor Adebowale has described four forms of racism that healthcare must tackle:

  • Racism by omission.
  • Racism by fear.
  • Racism by belief.
  • Racism straight, no chaser.
