This is a joint webinar hosted by the NHS Alliance and the LGA on place-based budgets.
The forthcoming Devolution White Paper will build on the Rewiring the State Cabinet Statement from July and focus on integrating public services, including health, around shared communities within a given place.
At the heart of this more relational approach is the need for a dual focus on shared outcomes and, critically, shared budgets. This free webinar will focus on the renewal of policies such as Total Place, which sought in the late 2000s to bring together central and local agencies to map public spending and explore how better alignment of resources, culture and service design could improve outcomes.
It will feature an overview of current pilots underway and recently published guidance on how to develop these approaches in practice, identifying how the health sector in particular can play its part.
Speakers include the former Secretary of State when the original Total Place pilots were launched and the lead author of a recent LGA guidebook on how to do this in practice. We will also hear from MHCLG, a Mayoral Strategic Authority and from NHS and local government CEOs.
