The future of public and patient engagement

With proposed reforms in the Health Bill, including the abolition of Healthwatch, the transfer of local Healthwatch functions and a stronger focus on strategic commissioning, integrated care boards (ICBs) are facing significant changes in how they engage with patients and communities. 

This webinar will explore emerging approaches to engagement, share practical examples from across the NHS and discuss how meaningful public involvement can be embedded in strategic commissioning despite resource pressures.

Patient and public engagement is central to effective strategic commissioning, helping ICBs understand need, improve services and address health inequalities. However, organisational change, financial pressures and proposed reforms to patient and public voice arrangements are reshaping how this function is delivered, creating a need for practical learning on how meaningful engagement can be sustained.
